A very familiar question we get asked is “what color will I get if I cross my mare with your double cream stallion, Gunsmoke”. In order to give you an educated answer you must look into the genetic color make-up of both the stallion and the mare. We have done our part. University of California, Davis has tested Gunsmoke as Ee, CrCr without the presence of the silver dapple gene or agouti gene. So what does this mean? It means Gunsmoke is genetically a black horse with the double dilute cream gene which makes him a smoky cream horse that also carries the red factor. He appears creamy white in color with pink skin and blue eyes. His eyes have been tested by University of Purdue to be free of cysts and no ASD. Gunsmoke will definitely add color to his foal with any color ranging from chocolate to buckskin.
